The Innovation Meetup is an interactive and lighthearted gathering of aspiring and inspiring innovators, creators, designers, builders, and dreamers who meet quarterly to be a part of the growing innovation and human-centered design community of interest at the department.

John Janek is the Chief Technologist at Dev Technology Group, a leading federal technology partner. There he leads Dev’s Innovation and Technology Operations across capability areas like Cloud-native, AI/ML, Biometrics, and Learning. Previous to joining Dev, he worked for cBrain North America, a Danish funded start-up focused on government digitization and modernization, and the U.S. Department of State where he served in the Foreign Service domestically and abroad for 15 years. John helped write the 2015 Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review with a focus on Technology, Data, and Knowledge and has lectured on technology and design at top ranked schools. He holds a B.S. in Information Technology and a M.S. in Management and Leadership. He enjoys teaching, learning, and has held over a dozen technology certifications from organizations such as Scaled Agile, ISC2, Amazon, Microsoft, and CompTIA.
