Project Overview
The Digital Lab conducted discovery to explore if AI-powered solutions would assist consular officers in drafting alerts. The project tested tools to automate the process of generating a first draft of an alert, which would then be reviewed by a country officer. The goal of the AI Generated Travel Alerts project was to assess to what extent an AI tool could decrease the amount of human time spent on manually drafting an alert and enforce standards as it relates to language, style, and formatting requirements.
Throughout the discovery phase, Digital Lab worked with AI subject matter experts and country officers at Post to identify key requirements and examine the current workflow, roles, and roadblocks from an end-user perspective.
Result & Impact
Based on the insights gained from discovery, the Lab team developed a proof of concept/prototype and conducted validation testing with country officers at various different Posts across the globe with positive feedback.
